Honey gathered from black seed (Nigella sativa) fields in flower. It is the opposite of citrus honey in every way: deep brown, thick and slow off the spoon, with a warm peppery bite and a faintly bitter finish that lingers. An acquired taste that people who love it will not swap for anything else. The small jar to find out which camp you are in.

How to use:

• Take by the spoon, the traditional way
• Stir into warm milk or black tea
• Spread on bread with white cheese — the salt suits the pepper note

• Single-origin floral honey — nothing added
• Natural crystallisation may occur; warm the jar gently to reverse it
